Students began our novels groups this week. We are reading "How to Eat Fried Worms". We have copies of the book in class, but it is advised that students purchase their own copy for use at home. Students will keep all notes and work in their 5-star Literacy notebook. Each student has a reading group job (word wizard, summarizer, illustrator or connector) and are responsible for completing group work after a selected in class reading.
Students started a science lab investigating electromagnets. We attached metal wire to a iron nail and battery and tested how electric currents can created magnetic fields.
Students also learned how to implement the revising and editing process in writing through peer review. They selected one of their folktales and met with a classmate and, using proofreading marks, revised and edited the paper.
